Stand-up comedians are held by a species that is about to explode

For a week, I spent as a critic at Edinburgh Fringe and there is excitement in the air that has nothing to do with stand-up comedy.
Storytelling stand-up, a species that is about to explode after decades of dominance after the live comedy throne to overthrow: character comedy.
In line with the purposes of this article, stand-up comedy, when a person says anecdotes and jokes on the stage, although it does not have a slightly higher version; Catherine Ryan, Michael McIntyre, Peter Kay and think of the biggest house names in the British comedy.
On the other hand, the character comedy is the time when a comedy plays a character. More more than a reinforced version. Instead, they embody an alter-ego or completely different.
On TV, the character comedians of course, of course, are not talking about MR Bean with Steve Coogan’s Alan Partridge, Diane Morgan’s Philomena Cunk and many faces of Lolly Adefope.
But in the live comedy world, this alternative scene is gushing with unexploded skills.
Last year, the character comedian Joe Kent-Walters sold the Edinburgh Fringe Run with Uncomfortable but Funny Alter-Ego Frankie Monroe, and won the latest arrivals at the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Awards with the buckets of five-star investigations.
This year, the character comedian Lorna Rose Treen’s 24 -hour Diner People is one of the most relevant eaves of this year.
In just a week and Lordna’s time was fully sold and even runs a run at the Soho Theater in September: a dream of the Edinburgh Fringe comedy.
Lorna Rose Treen: 24 hours Diner Human Review -★★★ ½
24 hours a 24 -hour peope, a satisfactory structure and plenty of laughter with Lordna’s imagination of Bonkers is exquisitely suffocating. With chaotic momentum and intelligent transitions, an American restaurant-long armed truck driver introduces a horny young and robbery Plotter-Carars.
Lorna’s characters are tickled brightly, while some lack the specificity and depth that will pass through the smiles that appreciate this show.
Still, I can’t wait to see what Lorna is doing. It is an exciting example of what might happen when comedians are not afraid to try and run their craziest dreams.
“ I have been going for only three and a half years… I think some of my early success was doing something very different, ‘says Lorna, Lorna, Metro.
He was convinced that the character comedy was a moment.
“ “ Too many character comedies are back and bubbling me really excite me, ” says Lorna, the new Soho Theater, established for movements in the movement of the Character Comedy Development Laboratory pointing.
It was really great to have that place for people to start. Because I didn’t really have a place to go when I started. ‘
Apart from the Lorna, Clown and Drag world, there are very strange and wonderful characters to see – currently in the UK period, the generation has about 30 characters comedians.
Archie Henderson-Cleland, which you know as the Alter-EGO jazz emuru, is more difficult to fill a series with a character comic book, while thinking about why character comedians are delayed behind stand-ups in live areas.
Character comedians have difficulty cutting their teeth
However, even if the viewers are not fully caught, they are gagging for the industrial character comedy.
“The characters are still alternative to the eaves, but often ongoing to make a really successful sitcom, Archie says.
Lorna accepts: ‘In the last three years, the TV industry now said that they just want a ridiculous loud comedy. [as opposed to comedy dramas]. So this is great, because it really turned to my favor. ‘
Rory Marshall is a relative novice at the scene that started to publish a sketch online during Lockdown. He didn’t recognize anyone in the comedy industry, but when the producers contacted, Rory thought he would give live shows at the Small Club in Hackney.
Rory Marshall: Small Small Characters Review – ★★★★tory
Rory Marshall, Edinburgh fring, makes its first output with bright pathetic little characters. The expert watch sees that Rory has embodied a series of daily men – all of which continues to be known.
With the presence of an experienced professional, Rory presents the male characters we all met, but they have never thought in depth.
Throughout the one -hour surprising comedy – I laughed so loudly that almost embarrassing – this pathetic little characters examine and even sew them with sensitivity.
Perhaps it doesn’t mean that they are, but Rory’s characters are also vital and satisfactory work on the male souls and flaws-basis sympathetic, not too much.
We should all follow Rory Marshall very closely – because it’s about to fly up.
Rory was ‘really nervous’ about making his characters on the stage for the first time, but he found a space that welcomed Moth Club with a comedy -tuned audience.
However, when he tried a regular stand-up comedy concert, things did not give much good results.
“ I did this as a character and there was no laugh. It was 10 minutes to go and “What am I going to do here?” I was thinking.
Archie accepts. Jazz Emu had a lot of stand-up comedy concerts as a character, and it was’ much more difficult ‘than alternative nights-that I come and go’ (they shine shortly after financial stress and tend to die). Now he’s only the stage on the left field nights.
World Heavy and Character Comedy Answer
“ I love silflik and I love to escape. I love all this. And in fact, I think it is really nice that people are a little distracted when everything is too heavy, ” says Archie acknowledging that it is a privileged position to be in it.
Although the character comedy is pure Daftess, it is also another way to talk and emphasize important issues, but a comedian is less than a comedian describing his trauma on stage.
Lorna says, “ I think it’s a very miserable time in the world. ”
“ Your power, I feel quite political to be a woman who does ridiculous things. ‘
For Rory, who has little weirdness that I don’t describe in men before seeing them realizing them, he doesn’t try to be actively political. But to discover masculinity in any way in 2025…
“When you see a man who is uncomfortable in a situation, I find it fascinating to see how he feels or how he is perceived, and then how he moves it, ‘he explains.
The fringe becomes a tense place – and the character comedians are really playing
What makes the character comedians so exciting in 2025 is not any political or social trend they sell. Simply, these artists are creative and brave forever, but even though they are in the left area.
Rory said, “The character comedians said,“ I will try this yesterday. I have very little faith. Quite daring, quite risky ”as they are.
Character Comedians-Derin Breath, in terms of the search for ‘Big Break’, wandering on a wild, less contradictory road than stand-up comedians. And this is a kind of free.
With Edinburgh Fringe, there are great pressures for the stand-up comedians known to have been built and broken on Albanian pavement streets. This long history creates pressure on every joke, moment and show. There are fewer places to take risks for young comic books.
Rory, “ `I think I trust the process with the character comedy and his madness more, Rory says Rory.` `Behind everyone’s mind, the audience may be a casting person or something. But I think what I noticed, there is only a love for creativity. ‘
Archie had to do it on stage, when the eccentric, annoying jazz.
‘There are still people who find him annoying and cartoon,’ he laughs, Jazz. ‘But that’s what I want to watch, so I thought I’d do it.’
