Days after the Council of Goods and Service Tax (GST) announced a ratio rationalization exercise from 22 September, the paper traders and elevator manufacturers in TaLangana marked the anomalies in taxes, especially in certain products, and to reduce the tax or to ensure the exemption of the elevators.
A 250 member organization and All India Paper Merchants Association, a part of the Telangana Paper Traders Association, wants to reduce the GST on paper and boards to 18%. TPMA President Abhishek Vijayawargi, this is not a privilege, a corrective necessity, otherwise the movement will increase the education costs for students, he said.
A great concern is an abnormal GST treatment given to laptops, textbooks and the article used in production. The books are exempted (0% GST), the paper used to produce notebook heads will attract 18%. With the finished product, NIL -GRADE AND BASIC RAW MATERIAL TAXED PUBLICS AND LEADEPTER MANUFACTURERS WILL NOT WANT TO REQUEST ITC, which will not result in locked and higher costs of working capital.
Paper manufacturers sell all paper at 18% GST, but it is impossible to predict which paper will be on laptops. Mr.vijayawargi said it would lead to incorrect classification and wrong practice and that he would risk real businesses while rewarding the gaps.
TPMA said that before the revision, 0%, 5%, below 18%below 0%, less than 12%, mills, merchants, printers and publishers will have to deal with classification disputes, risk of lawsuit and harassment.
