Ring users report mysterious entries, the company says it is a disruption, not a hack

All of the warnings that started to emerge on Thursday, July 17 are dated May 28, 2025 and show that users enter their accounts from devices such as “Chromebook”, “Windows 11” and even general browsers, and raises the fear that public accounts can be hacked weeks before knowing.
The reaction of social media platforms
Social media exploded overnight. In Tiktok, users have released urgent warnings to “control your public entry history right now”. A video showing more than one device input by User @lizamarshall has won millions of views. On Reddit, dozens of suspicious entrances shared screenshots, some of them reported more than a dozen different inputs without explanation.
The ring says it is just a mistake
In a statement shared on Facebook on Friday morning, July 18, Amazon’s company confirmed that there is no violation of hack and security. Instead, a rear -end update update, led to the old devices to look like they had logged in on May 28th. The update temporarily deleted some device labels and does not look new and familiar even your old phones or tablets.
“We are aware of a mistake that mislead the previous session dates in May 28, 2025, and in some cases the device names ‘device name was not found’, Ring said Ring. “There was no compromise from the ring’s systems.”
Several users say they are logging out from the positions or operating systems they have never used, and that they raise questions that the ring has not yet been explained to the public. A Redditor listed 11 devices from Safari, Mac OS and unknown iPads despite using only one iPhone.
Ring’s technical description offers relief, while experts say it has a deeper problem of trust.
“People put a camera in their most special areas, R Rachel Lin, cyber security analyst, said. “Even such a disruption shakes his confidence in the system.”
What to do now?
- Don’t panic, it looks like a imaging error.
- Login the old devices in the Zile Control Center.
- Change your password and enable two -factor authentication.
- Consider the end -to -end encryption for maximum privacy, but be aware: Alexa disables integrations and some video sharing features.
On Saturday morning, the ring says a correction is presented.
