Kerala Water Transport department to start a Kuttanad safari boat tour in Alappuzha

The State Water Transportation Department in Kerala (SWTD) will launch Kuttanad Safari, a tourism boat service that will connect various destinations in the region.

As a part of the implementation of the project, the Minister of Transportation KB Ganesh Kumar visited Pathiramanal Island in Panchayat on Tuesday Tuesday. Mr. Kumar said Kuttanad Safari will be modeled after the popular desert safari in the Gulf countries. “The project will be implemented in such a way that tourists will experience all the natural beauty of Kuttanad on a single boat journey, such as desert safari,” he said.

The journey will start at the Alaappuzha Boat pier at 11 o’clock at 11 o’clock at the point of finishing Nehru Cup. From there, it will continue at the Azhikkal Canal, where tourists will serve a traditional breakfast with local delicacies. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe their hands and try their hands with traditional pool making, palm leaf weaving and matte woven. Handmade products such as palm-faced hats, winning baskets and mats can be purchased. An artist will draw portraits of tourists and present them as a souvenir.

Safari will then pass visitors to the real Chidan Vallams (snake boots) and offer close images of the stunning pool, including information on the formation of C Block and R block areas. After reaching R Block, lunch will be served from the traditional pole, including a mixture of back water delicacies and Toddy shop specialties, including locally brewed Toddy.

During the journey, cultural performances such as Panchavadyam, Shinkari Melam, Velakyali and Kuthiottam will be established. In the evening, boat, traditional art forms will be staged in an environmentally friendly amphitheater made of sustainable materials.

On a return journey to Alappuzha, tourists can monitor oyster harvesting and processing in the back waters. They will also have the opportunity to shop for signature products in Alappuzha floating stores. Safari will end at Alappuzha Boat Pier at 17:00

“Kuttanad is a rich cultural center that hosts various art forms and folk traditions.

The package will be linked to Kerala State Road Transport Corportaion’s budget tourism program.
