Haydarabad: A laser -based surgical technique developed by a government surgeon at Osmania General Hospital has become international recognition to ensure that severe hemorrhoids are treated almost calmly with zero recurrence. The groundbreaking procedure was published in the International Journal of Surgery after a four -year study of approximately 500 patients.
The technique, called Pallam’s painless hybrid laser sandwich procedure, was performed in 493 patients with 3 and 4 hemorrhoids between 2020 and 2024. 98.67 percent of the 448 patients who completed the follow -up had no complications and no recurrence was reported. Most of them continued to have normal activity within three days and required only mild painkillers.
Dr. Pallam Praveen, who led the study, said, ik We have combined three proven steps into a smooth operation, ”he said. “First, we connect the arteries using finger -guided ligation. Then, we shrink the swollen tissue with a laser. Finally, we remove the prolapse rectum again.
Technique overcomes a common disadvantage of old methods such as Doppler -guided ligation, which usually cannot target deeper arterial branches. Dr Praveen, “These secondary ships are why many patients live. We have provided them to be treated,” he said.
Traditional hemorrhoidctomy is associated with severe postoperative pain, longer hospital accommodation and higher complication rates. In contrast, this method resulted in a minimal disorder with average pain scores as low as 0.6 after one month. Less than one percent of the patients reported complications such as bleeding or infection.
“This is not just about innovation, Dr Dr Praveen added. “This is about providing effective solutions in high -volume state hospitals where patients need faster recovery and cannot meet repeated surgeries.” The study suggests that the procedure be adopted wider in similar health environments in India.
