HC wants the secretary to send the claim that the trees were illegally cut off

On Friday, July 11, a part of the Kerala Supreme Court directed the claim that trees were cut on both sides of the National Highway 85 on the Neriyamalam-Valalar stretch without compulsory permissions.

The directive was submitted to a petition opened by Mn Jayachandran from Thodipuzha, and the Indian National Highways Authority (NHAI), beyond the permission given in the 2024 order, said that he had cut many trees in the reserve forest area and cut off the stand of the state.

Chief Justice Nitin Nitin Jamdar and Justice Basant Balaji’nin chapter bench, the behavior of the relevant civil servants may draw the results of the penalty and the state government is against the court to stand before the court, he said. “We should also consider whether the court has been directed to believe that it is opposed to non -forest activities by the government.

The court said, “We direct the secretary to examine the issue and stop illegal activity, if any. In addition to the penalties that can be initiated against the state government and NHAI, the Chief Secretary’s instructions should be recorded on 14 July”.

NHAI’s lawyer said he would make a statement by recording copies of the messages he sent to the relevant authorities before the court. The court said that this has actually made NHAI’s behavior even more serious.
