After the Asian Cup decline, Babar called Azam Test Camp, busy with Rizwan & Nazeem CPL

Babar Azam passes through a terrible form patch between the formats and has recently been twisted from the T20I team for the Asian Cup.
The PCB announced the start of the training camp for the Test players at the NCA in Lahore, for the upcoming series against South Africa. As per the report, the preparatory camp will commence on September 9, until 28th, keeping in mind the specific needs for the series.
Meanwhile, a total of 11 players have been called to the camp, including star Babar Azam; all players will report at the venue by September 8. Also, it will be conducted under the watchful eyes of Test coach Azhar Mahmood, along with the support staff present at the NCA.
Other than Babar Azam, the likes of Abdullah Shafique, Ali Raza, Azan Awais, Sajid Khan, and Rohail Nazir have been invited. As per the PCB, these players are the ones who are not involved in the Hanif Mohammad Trophy. The ones not available are — Mohammad Rizwan and Naseem Shah and are playing in CPL 2025.
It is also important to note, that Babar, Naseem and Rizwan were overlooked for selection in the Asia Cup 2025, under the captaincy of Salman Ali Agha. As far as the SA series is concerned, after the two Tests, both teams will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. The first Test will begin in Lahore on October 12, and the next one will happen in Rawalpindi from the 20th.
The series will also mark the start of Pakistan’s campaign in the ongoing WTC Test Championships cycle. Pakistan had last played a Test series against West Indies in Jan earlier this year, which ended in a poor 1-1 draw for them.
