Hugo Ekitike Red Card: Liverpool boss Arne Slot ‘Stupid’ after sending Crystal Palace trip to progress to move forward | FOOTBALL NEWS

Liverpool boss Arne slot criticized Hugo Ekitike’s “stupid” red card, who won a 2-1 win against Southampton at the striker Carabao Cup.
Ekitike took his first yellow card in the afternoon to punch the ball when Thomas Bramall exploded for a Southampton free kick, eight minutes after Alexander Isak replaced it at a part -time intervals.
The 23 -year -old continued to touch Federico Chiesa’s cross to regain his leadership after Shea Charles’ echoleson of Liverpool in the 85th minute.
Ekitike was sent after the second yellow card of the evening was submitted, and the luminaire of Saturday will miss against an undefeated crystal palace side.
Speaking after the game, Slot said, “Is it unnecessary? Yes. And it was stupid. The first is already unnecessary and stupid to some extent, because you need to control your emotions.
“After leaving three players behind and hitting the top corner, I said that if you scored goals in the Champions League final in the 87th minute, I could understand.
“But I’m old -fashioned, I’m 47 years old. I’ve never played at this level, but I didn’t score a few goals and if I scored such a goal, I would turn and walk to Federico Chiesa and said, ‘This goal is about you, this is not about me’.
“It is always the best to control your emotions. If you cannot, do it so that it does not cause a yellow card.”
Robertson ‘stupid’ ekitike red
Liverpool Vice President Andy Robertson reiterated the criticism of the nest for Ekitike after labeling the event as a “stupid” after the victory that preserves its place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
“I will be very surprised if he does it again,” Robertson said Sky sports.
“Scoring a goal is always emotional and obviously forgotten. First is stupid. We miss him for two stupid bookings and Saturday.
“He’s stupid. He’s gonna learn from him and I’m sure he won’t do it again.”
Sherwood: Ekitike disappointed itself
Sky Sports Tim Sherwood:
“Can you believe? Can you believe? He gets a second yellow card for that? If I had an Arne home, I would be gushing.
“I think Isak is there, the noise around him. He makes everyone know I’m here. We know he’s doing a really good job, a real threat.
“The fifth goal of this season. He can’t do more than he did. We all know your name!
“There is absolutely no need to show this. Liverpool fans appreciate what they do. Now he will not play and Isak is ready to play.
